BUDGET BRUNCHES
- TODAY - October
28 - 11:00 am; November 4 - 9:30 am - Price Hall
- How does the Church spend money? What are our plans for
2008? How do these decisions get made? Do you have input that concerns
you? How are we doing (financially) in 2007? What does it take to keep
Federated Church operating at its current level? What is the
prospective budget for 2008? The Stewardship Ministry Team will host
three “Budget Brunches” where we get to ask all our questions (and make
any comments) about church finances. Coffee, tea, juice, muffins, fruit
will be provided. Members of the Finance Team will be present to
respond to all questions and to listen to all comments. Please select
one of the convenient Budget Brunches and come be a guest of the
Stewardship Team. (Come to all three if you like the muffins!)

Honoring and celebrating the saints of our lives!
You are invited to the first “Remembrance Table Celebration” November
1st from 1:-3:00 p.m. in Price Hall to celebrate loved ones (family,
friends, pets) who are deceased. Create and bring a small table display
of the person's photographs, memorabilia, favorite flowers, hobby or
uniquely personal items, to create a Remembrance Table. These
will be part of an afternoon of shared story-telling honoring our loved
ones and afternoon tea; concluding with a service of remembrance led by
Andrew. You can see an example of a Remembrance Table in front
of the church on Sundays and in the Health Ministry Room during the
week. This event is inspired and created by Jeanette Ryder who has
participated for several years in the “Altares del Mundo, a visual and
auditory mix of contemporary and traditional altars that honor ancestral
roots and worldwide traditions of remembrance,” in Sacramento. We will
be honoring our loved ones in the Christian tradition on November
1st, “All Saints Day.” If you have any questions, please email Jeanette
at ijart@directcon.net or call Health Ministry at 622-0273, ext. 13.

GRACE PLACE HOMELESS SHELTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS - The homeless
shelter for El Dorado County, known as “Grace Place” is scheduled to
open Friday, November 2nd. With the help of county
funding, United Outreach is able to hire a Director and two Overnight
Shift Monitors for three months. We are still trying to raise
additional funding to pay the Director and Monitors for the rest of the
schedule. Meanwhile, we still need volunteers for Sunday nights.
Volunteers are needed for the evening greeting and hospitality time, an
evening snack, and Monday morning breakfast. One overnight volunteer
would still be welcome. Please contact Linda Gates or email at
linda.gates@earthlink.net if you can help with this important community
ministry.

FOLLOW THE YELLOW BOOK ROAD
- As we look at the life of Jesus Christ, we see he had a full and
complete life with God. From the life of Jesus Christ there emerge six
distinct areas: 1) Devotion to God when we see Jesus praying. 2)
Virtue in thought, word and action when we see Jesus battling with Satan
in the wilderness. 3) Empowerment by the Spirit when we see Jesus
ministering in great power. 4) Compassion toward all people when we see
Jesus helping the sick and the needy. 5) Proclamation of the good news
of the gospel when we see Jesus proclaiming the good news of the kingdom
of heaven. 6) Harmony between faith and work when we see Jesus
integrating sacred and secular. The Yellow Book Spiritual Formation
Groups are rooted in these six areas. The goal is to gain an
understanding of these aspects of Jesus’ life and incorporate into our
daily lives. By doing so, we will grow more and more in Christ’s
teachings and our lives will transform. We start November 7th
in Fireside Room. Come join the “Transformers.”

Classic Dry Cleaners,
with locations in the K-Mart shopping center in Placerville and the Bel
Air shopping center in Cameron Park, will donate 10% of the cost of
services they provide to those who attend Federated Church back to the
church. The process is simple - you take your cleaning and alterations
to Classic Cleaners and then put the receipt they give you in the box
marked "DRY CLEANERS" in the church office. A volunteer will take the
receipts to the cleaners once a month and receive a check for the church
equal to 10% of the cost of the services provided. |

Are you ready?
Come to Price Hall Tuesday Evening at 6pm to find out!! Tuesday,
October 30th at 6:00 pm in Price Hall, prepare for times of
emergency. What would you grab if a sheriff knocked on your door and
said you must evacuate your family in 5 minutes? You and your family
are stuck on highway 50 in a snow blizzard for 2 hours, do you have the
items to make your stay comfortable? Or if the Public Health Department
told you to stay in your home to avoid contact with a deathly virus for
2 weeks and not go to a grocery store, workplace, or school. Do you
have enough food to survive? The evening will be facilitated by Mark
Stanley, Federated's Community Emergency Response Contact, and Karen
Shelnutt, Faith Community Nurse.
