What kind of gifts shall I give the people I love at Christmas?
Are there
alternative gifts which would also help others? Please be considering
the Alternative Gift Market on Sunday, November 18th
from 9-11:30am in Price Hall. You can purchase anything from blankets,
school kits, safe water supplies, a water buffalo (to be distributed by
Church World Service in the US and all over the world for disaster
relief and help wherever needed) or little bags of grain to fund a
granary in a village in the Cameroons to assure the villagers of ongoing
source of grain. Christi Boyd told our children and many adults of the
importance of this project and several villages already have been helped
with granaries. It takes about $2,500 to establish the granary and to
train people to run it. We traditionally have supported Church World
Service at our Alternative Gift Market and are excited to add the
granary project. There will also be information about Heifer Project
which you can take home. Please join us and choose from many
possibilities. |

Truck or
Trailer Needed to Get Christmas Tree for Sanctuary - Do
you have a truck or trailer that can carry an 18 foot Christmas tree?
If so, we need you on November 25 after worship to go with a group out
to Santa's Acres to get the tree. If you aren't available then, perhaps
you would be willing to loan your truck or trailer to accomplish the
task. Call Helen Mansfield at 677-7890 if you can help. |

United Outreach
is excited to learn that the auction held last Saturday netted $10,000
for the continued operation of the Grace Place homeless shelter. We want
to offer our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all who
participated in the event, with a special thanks to all the women and
men who organized the auction items and made the entire evening not only
fun, but completely successful in all respects. This year we have three
full time employees which, combined with our other operating expenses,
makes our estimated monthly costs right now at $14,000. The $10,000 you
have raised for us, combined with the funds we have left over from last
year, will together allow us to keep the shelter open for the month of
February, probably the coldest month of the year. You should all be
proud. Art Edwards, President United Outreach
Items Requested for Grace

THANK YOU -
The Hope Community Garden Team would like to thank everyone who helped
make the Farmers' Market a success this year. We took in over $800 this
summer - 10% of which went to SHARE to help support their ongoing food
program. Also, any leftover vegetables and fruit were donated to SHARE
every week. The rest of the proceeds will help the Garden Team purchase
tools, seeds, compost and other items for the garden. Special thanks go
to the people who helped run the Farmers' Market each week and, of
course, to the generous people who donated fruit and vegetables every
Sunday - without which there would be no Farmers' Market. Thank you
all. |

Classic Dry Cleaners,
with locations in the K-Mart shopping center in Placerville and the Bel
Air shopping center in Cameron Park, will donate 10% of the cost of
services they provide to those who attend Federated Church back to the
church. The process is simple - you take your cleaning and alterations
to Classic Cleaners and then put the receipt they give you in the box
marked "DRY CLEANERS" in the church office. A volunteer will take the
receipts to the cleaners once a month and receive a check for the church
equal to 10% of the cost of the services provided. |

screening are confidential and you will receive the results to give to
your healthcare professional. Screenings are for anyone concerned about
memory loss, whose family and friends have noticed changes in them, or
who believe they are at risk due to a family history of dementia. Many
people have screenings to have a baseline score from which to compare in
the future. No appointment is necessary. For more information call

A Note from your Stewardship Team
-
Here's a
sampling of responses to the question:
"Where have you seen the creative
impact of Federated Church in this community?"
..."The influence of the
children's programs and how many children are reached by the choirs,
Kamp Koinonia, Trunk or Treat...so creative, so inclusive of the
community!"
..."In the numerous charities and
non-profits Federated has helped create - New Morning, Wee Care,
Juvenile Service Council. Also the numerous organizations Federated
supports...Grace Place, Upper Room, SHARE, HELP, Women's Shelter, CASA,
Family Connections, Snowline, CROP Walk, etc."
.."Spreading the word through the
musicals and plays."
..."although the Hope property
was not developed as planned it is being used now for perhaps a better
purpose."
..."the way the youth speak to
others in the community. Taking care of the hungry and ill."
..."Seeing people coming together
to help the homeless through Grace Place. And the Tree of Kindness at
Christmas where people give to help the poor to have a good Christmas."
All cards are on display in Price Hall and in the hall outside the
office. Thanks to all who participated.
